Nurturing myself

in , by sarahmfry, October 16, 2019
On those days when you wake up and the world is hard and dreary and weary and you can't get enough coffee...nurture yourself!

The older I get, the more I realize that it is my responsibility to nurture myself.

Most of these things can be done in 10-15 minutes or less.  Even on super-busy days, when I'm so focused on my to-do list that I'm feeling a little cranky, there is time to pause for a second...Notice. Breathe.  Maybe even sing.

πŸŽ”  light Candles and turn on soft music

πŸŽ”  Make some music!  Sing, play the guitar, sit down at the piano for a few minutes and play an old favorite.

πŸŽ”  bake something that will make your family smile

πŸŽ”  take a walk around the block in the drizzle

πŸŽ”   go outside and sit on the porch

πŸŽ”  take 15 minutes to scoop things into a laundry basket...set it in a corner...and turn on a soft lamp
before continuing your day's work

πŸŽ”go alone to the nursery and rock in the rocking chair in the dark with your headphones on

πŸŽ”crank up the music that gives you pep

πŸŽ”Open a window, no matter what the weather  (or...if your 100-yr-old windows are all painted shut like mine, open the door for a few minutes!)

πŸŽ”Go outside and use your sense of smell to notice things

πŸŽ”take a bubble bath - even if it's only 10 minutes

So what makes you feel nurtured?  Set a timer for 15 minutes...choose one thing...and go do it!!
