PLEASE......

Next time I decide to have a yard sale, would somebody be so kind as to shake me or kick me or knock me to my senses?

WHY do I continue to think this is better than dropping stuff off at A Great Find or Goodwill? Aren't there a million other ways to get a little cash? Selling hair, selling blood, taking untested drugs....anything's got to be less painful than this.

I was on a roll, blissfully taking periodic bagfulls of treasures to Goodwill. But then we made this little decision to go visit my sister in Ireland. Thus the scrimping and saving and aching of feet. I must really love De a lot.

Always remember: FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS HAVE YARDSALES!

I have been listing things on Craigslist instead of having a yard sale. I made about $250 in September on things(a couple pieces of furniture and electronic toys) that I had around the house that I had been meaning to sell. I think I got a better price selling that way then to people looking for a deal at a yard sale. Much easier than a yard sale.

Hey, I love your quote! I might have to print it off and hang it somewhere in my house (or tape it beside my cell phone!) I'll also have to make a copy and take it over to another blue-eyed blond we know. ;)

Shoot, if I had've known you went to all that trouble, I would've stopped by.

You are hilarious! When are you planning to visit De? She has invited us and I would LOVE to visit. I'm jealous you get to go!

Aww...my dear friend, we agree on so much. I hate that this difference has arisen between us. I love having yard sales!

When you're in Ireland and wishing you had more spending money, you'll be kicking yourself saying, "why didn't I have a few more yardsales?"! A trip to visit Deanna is definitely worth the hassle! - you'll be glad you did it!

I'm in total agreement with you Sarah. There has GOT to be a better way of making extra money. Me and garage sales (at least having them) do NOT get along. :-)

I always say I'm never doing it again and then the next yr rolls around and guess what??? I have a yard sale. This year I decided to keep collecting stuff until next year because I haven't been making enough to make it worth it. What I want to know is-----how on earth can I accumulate all that stuff year after year???? Surely I'm the only one with sooo much junk to get rid of!

Your comment cracked me up.

I just wanted to let you know that I posted a link to your blog from my blog and posted the question that you asked on your blog about young girl's purity. I then posted my comment, with some added thoughts. I hadn't thought of blogging about this subject...but I surely have HAD this subject and our young girls/ladies on my heart, so decided to use my blog as my soap box. =) No, I really am CONCERNED for all young girls/ladies, including my own 2 girls, so that is why I am posting about that subject.

Hope all is well your way and that you are RECOVERING from "selling your yard." =D

A certain brown-eyed friend of mine need not send a copy of your motto--I have it tattooed on my forehead now!

I've unloaded a bunch of stuff on eBay this fall and made quite a bit of money. Maybe next time, you can try that...

While my dear husband mightily disagrees with me, I love having yard sales! Amazing how all the 25 cent sales add up! Good luck with your trip! On our last trip to Europe, we kept checking Travelzoo for good deals. You can sign up for a free weekly subscription that gives you all kinds of good deals on airfares, etc. You might check it out.
I laughed out loud when I saw your post. You have helped me make a decision--I will not have that yard sale that I did not want to have anyway. I thought about the possibility of having one since I had talked Doyle out of having the annual band yard sale he has had for the last several years. I mean MEGA sale with a car wash and a bake sale thrown in. It is extremely exhausting. I have been throwing things in my van as I clean. It is going to the thrift store!! (The band did make $4,000 one year-I don't think I will remind him of that.)

I have a theory. It is the organized people of the world who love yard sales and actually make money at them. You know the kind. They price every thing as they store it in well labeled Rubbermaid tubs. I will say though, that an unorganized woman like myself has come to love yard sales and here is how. I only have joint yardsales with friends. (They are the organized ones who bring 69 pre-priced tubs of stuff) Then I pull out my one tub (cuz I couldn't reach the other 30tubs in the garage) and they help me price my stuff as the sun rises. Then we get to sit and chat for hours while Daddy has the kids at home. So much fun!!! BTW, I usually make about $20 minus the money I spend on lunch. :) You won't make much money my way, but it's the next best thing to a girls night out. :)
