It must be recital day.....

There is music spread all over my piano and I'm putting the finishing touches on everything from the Twinkles to Josh Groban

My kids are playing with the heater and I don't even care - just as long as they're out of my hair.

The program is ready but the printer WON'T WORK! (Of course. It saves up all of its nastiness for recital days)

There is a $400.00 punch bowl on my counter.

This is the only day of the year you'll find little smokies and meatballs and pineapple in my crockpot. Together.

It's almost 9:00 and I'm still in my pj's because I'm too busy scurrying around to get dressed.

Yep! I'm pretty sure it must be recital day.

"Teaching music is not my main purpose. I want to make good citizens. If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance. They get a beautiful heart." ~ Shinichi Suzuki

The recital went very well. I was glad to see it growing. Good job to all that participated and worked it all out. We can tell your kids are working really hard to learn their pieces. Thank you for all your work.

I am especially impressed that those in your pictures are holding their age very well...all the way from 2003 to 2008...if I'm reading the dates on your pics correctly.

Oh my GOODNESS.....Dad, you're right! I knew our camera was on its last wobbly leg, but what in the world would it to change the dates around? Maybe it's time to retire that dear camera that is held together (literally) by a rubberband!

(We're referring to the pictures in the "Photo Journal Catch Up" post.)

Recitals, recitals...the joy of the music teacher's life, right?! Robb and I decided to do a joint recital in the fall (last November) rather than a spring recital. Everyone is just too busy in the spring. This worked well for us, although untraditional!

I love, love, love the quote at the end! Very powerful.

"RECITALS"...they always brought fear to my heart. But now my kids are in their own recitals! Hope that yours was fabulous! Love the quote at the end...

Sarah, my dear friend, you most definitely have a beautiful heart! Recitals...I want to earn my masters in piano pedagogy until I remember that I have to go through the agony of playing memorized notes in front of a listening audience!!
