Summer Daybook - Hello Again, Hello

in , by sarahmfry, June 07, 2014
::Outside My Window::
Gentle breeze, everything finally bright summer green

::I am Listening to ::
 My boys telling some awful story of boyishness that I don't want to hear or repeat.  I need some music.  Maybe John Barry will do the trick.

::I am Thankful For ::
 A wonderful little one night camping get-away with our family.

::I am Pondering ::
New rhythms and routines:  for a busy summer, changing ministry roles and responsibilities,  new kid stages, and then possibly for our new house.

:: I am Remembering ::
 Caiden remembers our trip to Epcot.  The big white ball was his favorite.

:: I am looking forward to/Dreaming of ::
 New decorating schemes.  New cleaning schedules.  New storage spaces.

:: Some of what I've been reading::
Not much for about the last 16 months of my life, it seems.  A couple of current book-marked books:

::From the Kitchen::
 Caiden just asked, "What are we having for supper?"  He thinks my homemade sloppy joes will calm his stomach down. No comment.

The kitchen has been very lack-luster.....not a lot of good rhythm happening here lately.    I had been using eMeals and really like it.  I am trying to decide between working from eMeals or freezer cooking this summer.  What will probably happen is frozen pizzas and canned ravioli. : )

::I am Thinking::
 Wishing my current pictures aren't what I actually look like. : )

::I am Creating::
 A "SIMPLIFY" sign out of an old trim board from the Harrison House.

:: Towards raising hungry learners::
 They are signed up for a couple weeks of summer classes through a Purdue extension program in our town. A week of studying and copying the Art of the Masters and a week of Journalism, where they trail a reporter and work on articles for the local paper.

::Towards Rhythm and Beauty::
Help.  Yes.  Needing both in a big way. It's coming.  Progress Mess.

::To Live the Life ::
Prayer.  Prayer is air.

::I am Hoping and Praying::
 That we hear soon about the house we are trying to buy.  The last paperwork came through, everything is ready.  We just need to hear that final clearance from the bank that our repairs and remodeling requirements have been fulfilled.  Then they set a closing date.  Our banker hopes by June 13th. Yeah right.  Seriously, we are praying by June 26th.  Because if not by then we may lose the house.

 :: In the Garden::
 Some beautiful new things are blooming that David planted last year.  The only thing I'm keeping alive in the garden is 4 beautiful dogs. At least I think they're alive. Better go check.

 ::Around the House::
 Boxes.  Furniture.  Children.  A few remaining things from camping.

 ::One of My Favorite Things::
 How many colors of green there are in the tops of the trees when the sun shines through.

::The Kids::
 Kayla:  Growing at a frightening rate into a long lanky quiet almost teen.

Karissa:  Drama.  Sweetness.  Bling.  Helpfulness.  Did I mention drama?

Caiden:  Doing much better after a painful season of anxiety.  We are both learning so much through this brain-journey.  Once again, the chiropractor was very helpful.

I think it's hilarious that I actually forgot two of the kids.  I was proofreading after posting and realized I only mentioned 3 kids.

Corin:  Looking forward to being 5 this summer...asking for goggles and knives and hatchets and other nice 5-year old things. Just came to the door stark-naked after his bath.  Hollering at the top of his lungs "I'm cold as ICE!  I'm cold as ICE! Why are you laughing at me?!"  (Every heard of a towel, Bub?  Or maybe clothes? Duh.)

Christian:  Soaking wet (from maybe falling in the tub with Corin?). Sitting on my lap.  His finger up my nostrils.  Now trying to help me type.  Chortling as he gets dangerously close to a swat.

:: The Man of the House ::
 He's wonderful.  Juggling an incredible lot of hats and things and still taking time for us.  Love him.  We keep forgetting how many years we've been married.  Pretty sure our 13th anniversary is coming up.  I actually typed and erased that number several times while my brain did the math. : )  Apparently we're getting old.

The new house we've been working on has an interesting set up in the entryway:  When you walk in the front door you have to either walk up a little flight of stairs, across a landing and back down some stairs to the kitchen.  OR you can choose to go AROUND -  through a couple of rooms on either side - to the kitchen.  We have been cracking up. We admitted to each other that we most often find ourselves choosing to go around instead of over.  A sure sign of age and exhaustion. : )

::A Few Plans for the Rest of the Week::
 Today is the rest of the week.  So...to prepare for Sunday:  Finish cleaning. Wash dishes  Make sure everyone is showered or bathed and clothes are ready for tomorrow and hair is detangled and curled.  Make bread.  Make deviled eggs.  Make a salad.  Switch, dry, fold, put away laundry.   Prepare special music.  Prepare supper.  Serve supper.  Clean up supper.  Family Devotions.  Tuck kids in.  Finish up whatever didn't get done.  Feed baby.  Sleep.

It's almost 6pm.  Mission impossible?

:: Love this Quote! ::
"He who every morning plans the transaction of the day and follows out that plan, carries a thread that will guide him through the maze of the most busy life. But where no plan is laid, where the disposal of time is surrendered merely to the chance of incidence, chaos will soon reign."   ~ Victor Hugo

:: A Picture from our world::
Accidently shot the weekend in RAW and we can't find our photo software disk to load onto my new hard drive.  Life's big little frustrations.   I will search for something jpeg....My computer crashed and I haven't yet restored my pictures from my online storage.  I found one jpeg photo. lol.
