Summer Daybook: June 25

Disclaimer: I'm having trouble with the formatting of my daybook: fonts and spacing jumping around randomly.

::Outside My Window::
Beautiful, slanted golden morning sun.

::I am Listening to ::
 Classical WGUC 90.9 online (a little taste of my Cincinnati-home!)

::I am Thankful For ::
 The patience of my Abba.  I am feeling so weak and flawed.  I am a grace-needer.  He is a grace-giver.  It's a good arrangement.

::I am Pondering ::
How in the world to find some long uninterrupted hours to get caught up around here.
:: I am Remembering ::
 The sound of the late-night summer divers at the pool coming through the window of my room in my house on Josephine Street.

:: I am looking forward to/Dreaming of ::
 Getting healthy again.

:: Some of what I've been reading::
 Bits and pieces.  Haven't been too good at finding long, book-finishing stretches of reading.  But lots of bits and pieces.  Here are a few selections I've been enjoying from the teetering stacks:

Rewire Your Brain by John B. Arden
The Weight of Glory - C.S. Lewis

Maybe later I'll chat a bit about these books and the incredible value of skim-reading and bits-and-pieces reading.
 ::From the Kitchen::
 Green Smoothies!  My  new favorite thing.  It feels like I'm not getting too many things quite right these days, and my kids do not eat as healthy as I would dream, but I can always feel good about my kids drinking raw spinach and greens in fruit smoothies. It's progress.

::I am Thinking::
 That I cannot wait until this painful kink in my back works its way away.  I'm needing a lot more mobility today than what I currently have!

::I am Creating::
 Pictures of my new gorgeous niece:  Olivia Ann Wolf

:: Towards raising hungry learners::
Hmmm...do I hafta?   I guess the best thing I'm doing right now is making them earn their screen time through reading.  There's been a lot of reading going on. : )

::Towards Rhythm and Beauty::
 Wishing for both, to be honest.

::To Live the Life ::
 I have learned the value of fitting prayer into the cracks of my day.  But my soul is longing for more than prayer slivers.  Feeling like I need some chunks.  Pondering the best way to realistically get that done.

::I am Hoping and Praying::
 That I can chill out about something I have been trying to solve in my head. : ) Fix your brain, girl!

 :: In the Garden::
 My black thumb defers to my capable husband.  The lillies are gorgeous right now.  The knockout roses need attention.  The window boxes are half and half:  half dead, half beautiful.

 ::Around the House::
I am continually amazed at how constant it is to keep up with just the daily dishes and laundry. Lord help.
 ::One of My Favorite Things::
 Karissa says:  Chocolate!!  She's right, but here's another:

Audiobooks!!  I have lots to say about audiobooks.  They are like a mother's right hand man when it comes to getting loads of good literature into your kids.  Our library has a fair selection.  We put them on our ipods into a folder marked LIBRARY so we know which ones are borrowed.  Some of our favorites lately:

Ballet Shoes by Noel Streatfield  (Delightful, wonderful classic)
Stewart Little by E.B. White (Love the book, HATE the ending!)
The Bippolo Seed and other Lost Stories - Dr. Seuss (Ok, so Dr. Seuss is maybe borderline twaddle, but he sure is a lot of fun.)

::The Kids::
Corin: eating oatmeal squares in his underwear
Karissa: curled in a blanket listening to music with me. Takes her awhile to get her juices going in the morning.
Kayla and Caiden: still in bed at 8:00?!?
Christian: fell asleep on the floor in front of the aquarium

:: The Man of the House ::
 At a 7am staff meeting.  I was really excited that he woke me up between 6 and 6:30 this morning. That was awesome.

::A Few Plans for the Rest of the Week::
 Try to spend some long hours doing projects and catching up around the house
Speaking to the pastors' wives at a nearby camp on Friday.

:: Love this Quote! ::'

"Being comfortable in your own skin and content with your own company is a magical gift to yourself and everyone in your life."     - Patricia Alexander

:: A Picture from our world::
These 2 pictures so describe our Christian-baby.  He'll be 6 months old this week. He is bundles of smiles and love, and he communicates VERY clearly what he expects from the world.
